Plan and Book

At the gateway to the Missouri Ozarks you’ll find Fort Leonard Wood, an impressive U.S. Army installation that trains approximately 82,000 service members and welcomes over 100,000 visitors each year to attend various military graduations on the installation. The beautiful, unspoiled, and serene location provides the perfect backdrop for these celebrations, but the natural beauty of the area also lures about 100,000 additional tourists who simply love the outdoors and are seeking adventure.

The communities surrounding Fort Leonard Wood, including St. Robert, Waynesville, Rolla, Lebanon, and Houston, provide visitors with unique attractions and recreational activities that you won’t find anywhere else. You can explore historic Route 66, walk along the Trail of Tears, or if you really want to dive into history, take the short hike up to Miller Cave which contains archaeological evidence of human occupancy from 7000 B.C. to 1400 A.D.

There is no shortage of formal museums in the area. You could spend the day meandering through the Old Stagecoach Stop Museum, the Pulaski County Museum, or the Mahaffey Museum Complex on Fort Leonard Wood where you can walk through an outdoor military vehicle display and get a close-up look at replica World War II barracks, a chapel, and a mess hall.

If you’re looking for a little more adventure, the Fort Leonard Wood Region has you covered. You can bring your gear and fish to your heart’s content at Bennett Spring State Park or at the Stone Mill on Fort Leonard Wood. Want to take it one step further, bring your scuba gear! Scuba diving in Missouri, you say? Yes – that’s a thing! If you’re visiting during the spring, summer, or fall, make time to explore the underwater caves of the Roubidoux Spring in Laughlin Park.

With all of this non-stop exploring, we know you’ll be hungry. Take a break at any of the local breweries or wineries in the region and fill your belly at Hoppers Pub or A Slice of Pie before catching your flight!
